Grand Turk is largest island in the Turks Island, home to the capital of Turks & Caicos and is the second most populous island. Most of the country's main government offices, such as the Supreme Court and residence of the Governor are on this island. The historical events that have taken place on Grand Turk makes it an interesting island. It is said to be one of the first islands that Columbus's stepped foot on in the New World, and also is the first land American astronaut John Glenn stepped foot on after orbiting Earth in 1962.
